Hi, I’m Laura, from Grand Rapids, Michigan, but I say y’all. After 4 years of college in North Carolina, I developed a southern accent. Over the years the accent has faded a little bit. I call it my hint of southern.

Growing up my mom always taught me southern hospitality through entertaining and cooking for others. Baking and cooking have always been a way for me to relax when I get home from work. Now I get to share my love for food with y’all.

One of my fondest memories growing up was learning how to bake from my mom and grandmother. They showed me how to bake the best strawberry rhubarb pie and create mini cinnamon crust rolls from the extra dough. Each recipe brings me back to a certain time in my life…the smell of sautéed mushrooms, caramelized onions, or chocolate chip cookies.

When I first started this blog, I was working my way through different cookbooks and learning new techniques. My cooking and baking is now with my two girls and making meals that I can quickly get on the table for the family. Sharing these memories with my family make time in the kitchen more special.

Along with my love for food, I have enjoyed crafting since I was younger. One year for Christmas, my parents bought me a box full of supplies to make my own greeting cards. Now years later, I was gifted a Cricut machine and was introduced to a whole new world of crafting. I look forward to learning new skills and sharing my tips with y’all.

Being southern is more than where you are from. A hint of southern is incorporating hospitality, food, crafting, and charm into your life, while sharing it with others.
