Whenever we visit a new city, we try to find a local restaurant instead of a tourist spot. You can tell the restaurant is a local hot spot when there is a line out the door. While in Denver this last weekend, we found this great breakfast place called Denver Biscuit Company. It was crowded, but it was definitely worth the wait. Plus Guy Fieri from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives visited the restaurant for his show.
Majority of the items on the menu were combinations of sweet and savory biscuit dishes. We ordered “The Dahlia” and the “Giant Cinnamon Roll Biscuit”. Keep in mind that cinnamon roll biscuit is absolutely “Giant” and you can only eat about half with two people. It is light and fluffy with the right amount of sweetness in the icing. If it wasn't so filling, we would have been happy to eat the whole thing.
"The Dahlia” had a fried egg, sausage patty and apple butter on a biscuit sandwich. Maple syrup was then drizzled on top (this part wasn’t as savory). This was a fancier biscuit egg and sausage sandwich. Their biscuits are buttery and flaky. This with the cinnamon roll was a nice balance of sweet and savory.
My husband and I really enjoyed it and highly recommend trying the Denver Biscuit Company if you are in the area or even the Biscuit Bus Food Truck. We are glad to have saved the rest of the giant cinnamon roll for leftovers (we typically forget the take out box at the restaurant).
