All in Breakfast

Blueberry Coffee Cake

It’s always special for me to look at my cookbooks from my mom and see her handwriting letting me know how the recipe tasted and when she made it. She made this Blueberry Coffee Cake from Ina Garten back in 2011. I don’t remember eating the coffee cake, so I wanted to make it with the blueberries I got from the local Farmer’s market.

Cinnamon Bread Muffins

Growing up my mom would always make cinnamon bread for anyone moving into their new home. It has always been one of my favorite loaves of bread that she would make. I decided to make cinnamon bread muffins that reminded me of hers.

Banana Chocolate Chip Bread

I love to eat this banana chocolate chip bread as a snack, dessert, or side with dinner. It has always been my dad’s favorite. This recipe is from the Elsah Landing Restaurant cookbook. Elsah is a small town in Illinois and my mom has had this cookbook for a long time.

Blueberry Streusel Muffins

In fifth grade, we each had to pick a state to research and make a dish to prepare for the class that represented the food from that state. I chose Maine and I made a blueberry buckle. It has become a family favorite for dessert and breakfast. I have been wanting to expand my breakfast repertoire and found that Ina Garten has the best blueberry muffin recipes. This time I tried the Blueberry Streusel Muffins from “Barefoot Contessa: Back to Basics”.

Grapefruit Muffins

Since the winter is citrus season, I have been enjoying grapefruit every morning for breakfast. As I was thinking about my next post, I thought it would be interesting to find different uses for grapefruit. I came across this Morning Muffins recipe from “Crumb” by Rudy Tandoh. The recipe only makes 6 muffins because these muffins are best right out of the oven.

Cheddar Scallion Biscuits

After some background research about biscuits and the ingredients needed, I decided to dive into the baking without looking at the recipes. This of course is a challenge for me since I like to follow recipes to a “T”. I am glad to say that it turned out well and I wanted to share the progression with you all!

Sock-It-To-Me Cake

My family tradition growing up was to have coffee cake for breakfast every Sunday. Some of the different cakes/pastries were New York Crumb Cake, Bear Claws, and Sock-It-To-Me Cake. A friend of mine shared a recipe of Sock-It-To-Me Cake with me and I have found that it is great for when you have company because it feeds a crowd and is delicious!
