Mermaid Oneder the Sea Party

Mermaid Oneder the Sea Party

For our daughter’s first birthday, we threw an Oneder the Sea mermaid party for the family. I enjoyed trying out new party decorations such as banners. The SVGs for the mermaid Cricut projects are on my Etsy.

The mermaid theme called for lots of glitter paper, which thankfully did not get everywhere during crafting and it cut well on the Cricut. I recommend the Recollections brand glitter/shimmer packs from Michaels.

The invitations have 4 different layers and allow space on the inside for party details. When designing these invitations, I wanted to minimize the amount of assembly process. Instead of gluing individual accent scales, I cut the shapes out of white paper and had an accent paper show from behind.

On Etsy, the Oneder the Sea banner allows flexibility for any combination of words since the text is not included. The banner base is the same for all letters and the fun mermaid themed designs can be added throughout. These designs can also be used for cupcake toppers. Since I did not want to cut into the main design for the ribbon, I added slits along the edge with an exacto knife to weave the ribbon in and out. Here is where I made a mistake with glitter and chose a glitter ribbon. My desk became a glittery mess.

While the clams are not a Cricut project, I bought the tissue paper pom pom flowers to make into clams and added white balloons for the pearls. Depending on the size you want, fluff half of the pom pom and create space for the balloon.

Even though I do mainly cardstock projects, it was fun to make matching shirts for the girls. My husband and I made these mermazing shirts for our daughters to wear to the party.

To complete the mermaid theme, I made clam shell thank you notes to send to the guests. There is even a little pearl on the inside.

I could not imagine manually cutting all the mermaid scales for this project. Very grateful for the opportunity to create on the Cricut and see all that it can cut. Happy crafting!
